Babatunji Wusu –
The recent nomination of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Post Master General of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been rejected by the agency’s workers.
President Tinubu’s spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, revealed last week that significant changes had been made in the leadership of communication agencies, notably NIPOST.
Shortly after the announcement, however, reports surfaced suggesting that the fired Post Master-General, Adeyemi Adepoju, had been restored.
In a viral video, Adepoju was seen addressing several workers who believed Tinubu had reappointed him.
As a result, NIPOST employees protested Odeyemi’s appointment by shutting down the service’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday morning.
The protesting employees refused admission to the newly appointed NIPOST CEO, claiming that her appointment was made against their wishes.
Workers who favoured Adepoju chanted solidarity songs and brandished placards.
