The Senate on Wednesday began the screening of the newly appointed Service Chiefs during plenary.

The exercise, which is currently ongoing, is being conducted in the Committee of the Whole, with the nominees appearing before the lawmakers to present their credentials and outline their strategies for tackling the nation’s security challenges.

President Bola Tinubu had, on Sunday, appointed Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff to replace General Christopher Musa.

Also appointed were Major General Waidi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff.

Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin is presiding over the session.
