The Nigerian Senate has removed Danladi Usman from his position as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). This decision was made following a closed-door session, in which 84 out of 107 serving Senators signed in favor of his removal.
The Senate’s action is in accordance with Section 157(1) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the Senate to remove the head of any statutory body accused of gross misconduct or misdemeanour in office, provided that two-thirds of the Senate members agree.
