On Wednesday, the Senate, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe, met behind closed doors to discuss rising insecurity in Abuja, the country’s capital.

The Senate met during the Wednesday plenary and resolved about 12:20 p.m. to postpone the first order of the day until a later legislative day in order to hold the essential security meeting.

As a result, Oyelola Ashiru, the Deputy Senate Leader, introduced a resolution that was backed by the Minority Leader.

“The minister and the commissioner will brief us on the modalities of security in the FCT,” Ashiru noted.
