Football enthusiasts everywhere rejoiced at the news since it offers an incredible chance to follow all the action from the tournament.

The news was released on Monday by Skysports’ X account.

Ivory Coast will kick off the competition on January 13 and the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 champions will be crowned on February 11 in the final.

In the meantime, there is a real risk to Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface’s possible collaboration on the Super Eagles’ offensive line in the next 2023 AFCON.

The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to start in Ivory Coast on January 13 and Victor Boniface was supposed to be a shining light, but he isn’t showing up anywhere as of yet.

On Sunday, January 7, the Super Eagles played a friendly encounter against Al Gharbia FC, an Abu Dhabi club. Boniface did not start the game and did not come off the bench.

His absence from the team was not noticeable because the Eagles faced a lowly-ranked opponent and the Nigerian team triumphed convincingly, 12-0.

Nigerians started to wonder where the 23-year-old striker had been after the starting lineup for the warm-up match against Guinea was announced earlier today, January 8, and Victor Boniface wasn’t in the lineup or among the replacements.

First reports stated that the striker for Bayer Leverkusen is taking a break to ensure he is fully ready for the event when it starts on January 13.

Naija News did, however, confirm that Boniface is hurt right now; the extent of the ailment is unknown.

As of this writing, the injury’s status is still being evaluated, and if it turns out to be serious, he might not be able to participate in the 2023 AFCON.

Should that occur, Boniface will be the second star player to leave coach Jose Peseiro’s 25-man AFCON roster. Recall that Alhassan Yusuf had to take Wilfred Ndidi’s place owing to health concerns.

Additionally, because he is still not totally healthy, Kelechi Iheanacho has not joined the team. On January 9, he is anticipated to meet up with the group in Lagos, and on January 10, they will go to Abidjan together.
