Babatunji Wusu –
Umo Eno was recognized by the Supreme Court on Thursday as the governor of Akwa Ibom State, having been properly elected.
In its decision, the court rejected the appeals against Governor Eno’s victory that the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Young Peoples Party (YPP), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had submitted.
Recall that on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Lagos State, the Court of Appeal upheld Umo Eno’s election to the position of governor of Akwa Ibom State.
The challenges against Governor Eno submitted by the candidates of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and All Progressives Congress (APC) were dismissed by the court in its decision.
The appeal brought against Governor Eno by Action Alliance (AA) and Accord Party (AP) was likewise denied by the Appeal Court earlier in November.
The three-member panel, chaired by Justice Tani Hassan, declared the governorship election petition tribunal’s conclusions to be final and unchallengeable.
