Chelsea were pushing and probing but the goal would not come. Newcastle’s players and fans had to be patient to hang in there and believe that their chance would come. It did in the form of a corner in the final minute of added time and they seized it. That’s a big win for Steve Bruce and a big blow for Frank Lampard.
Chelsea stay fourth. Newcastle are up to 12th – level on points with Arsenal and Everton.
