President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally sworn in Tunji Disuas the new Inspector-General of Police during a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The brief but symbolic ceremony marked the official commencement of Disu’s tenure as the head of the Nigeria Police Force, with the new police chief taking the oath of office before the President.

During the ceremony, Disu pledged to strengthen national security, enhance professionalism within the Force, and rebuild public confidence in policing across the country.

His appointment signals a new phase for the Nigeria Police Force as the government seeks to address growing security challenges and deepen reforms within the nation’s law enforcement system.

Observers say the new IGP is expected to prioritize improved operational efficiency, accountability, and stronger collaboration with communities to combat crime nationwide.

The swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Villa underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening security institutions and ensuring effective policing in Nigeria.
