Brunson Inspires Knicks’ Stunning Playoff Comeback

New York Knicks produced an incredible turnaround on Monday night as Jalen Brunson inspired a dramatic 115-104 overtime victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game One of the NBA Eastern Conference finals.

The New York Knicks comeback looked impossible when the team fell 22 points behind early in the fourth quarter. Cleveland appeared fully in control after opening a 93-71 lead with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation time.

However, Brunson completely changed the momentum of the game. The Knicks star scored 38 points and led an explosive 18-1 run that pulled New York back into contention. He then calmly delivered a floating shot with 19.3 seconds left to level the game at 101-101.

Cleveland still had one final chance to avoid overtime, but Sam Merrill missed a late three-point attempt. That mistake opened the door for New York, which dominated the extra period by scoring the first nine points.

The New York Knicks comeback spoiled a strong display from Donovan Mitchell, who finished with 29 points for Cleveland. James Harden also contributed 15 points, but the Cavaliers failed to recover after losing control late in the contest.

New York now heads into Game Two on Thursday with a valuable lead in the best-of-seven series. The winner will advance to the NBA Finals to face either the defending champions Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs.

Earlier, Victor Wembanyama scored 41 points as the Spurs defeated Oklahoma City in double overtime during Game One of the Western Conference finals.
