Mrs. Abigail Eguta, a 24-year-old pregnant woman, is accused of beating her 7-year-old nephew for not being able to recite the English alphabet in Anambra State.

On May 16, after being brought by concerned neighbors to the office of the state’s commissioner for women’s and social welfare, Ify Obinabo, the nursing mother was arrested.

According to Sahara Reporters, Sunday is reportedly the son of Mrs. Eguta’s biological sister, who she brought to live with her little over a year ago.

The boy, according to the report. Whose body is covered in scars from prior injuries his guardian put on him had been absent from school for a considerable amount of time.

For eating the fish she bought for Sunday dinner, according to Mrs. Eguta, she beat the boy. Along with admitting to assaulting him on Monday, she added that the major reason she hurt him was because he mispronounced the English alphabet.
