Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari and Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila met behind closed doors.
The leaders reviewed the contentious cashless policy that the Central Bank of Nigeria, under the direction of Godwin Emefiele, recently implemented at the meeting, which was held at the State House in Abuja.
According to Mr. Gbajabiamila, the leaders also talked about matters pertaining to the general elections in 2023 in addition to the cashless policy.
There were concerns about the cashless policy, concerns about the elections and the violence that appeared to be rising in this area, as well as a few other crucial issues, he stated.
The meeting on Tuesday was held on the same day that Mr. Emefiele, once again, declined to accept an invitation from the House of Representatives due to the new cashless policy, which, among other things, aims to restrict cash withdrawals by individuals to N20,000 per day.
The CBN chief wrote to the MPs to decline their invitation since he was out of the country.
