On the 24th of April President Muhammadu Buhari would be in Lagos State to commission few projects upon their completion by the Lagos state Government ,spearheaded by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The president is expected in Lagos On a one day official visit today before heading to Borno State on Thursday ,in the wake of his visit, security in The Airport and places he would be visiting has been heightened.

The projects he would be commissioning includes the rehabilitated 10-lane Oshodi- Murtala Muhammed International Airport road, the 170 bed Ayinke hospital(maternity hospital) at the Lagos state teaching Hospital Ikeja, Lagos state theatre at Oregun, the 820 mass transit buses and the multi-level Oshodi transport interchange Along Aapapa-Oshodi expressway.

This development has Lagosians excited because of the progress in the City even though it is a busy day in Lagos as some major roads have been shut down because of the easy movement of the president causing motorists to ply alternative routes.

Only few number of the masses know the actual background of these projects  as they are being commissioned. The 10-lane Oshodi-Muritala Muhammed International Airport road which costs $70m was being handled by the federal government initially but the Lagos state Government took over on the claims of the road deteriorating which had Governor Ambode describe it as a national disgrace that required immediate attention as it was the busiest airport in Nigera.

The 820 mass transit buses is the commencement of the Bus reform project in Lagos which the government has in plan, the goal is to get 5,000 buses to aid transportation in the state. Governor Ambode while revealing the sources of the funds urged private sectors to also contribute to the development.

Also, the Ayinke maternity renovation which has 170 beds is said to have been completed in the early part of 2018,but it has not been in operation even though it is well equipped.

The multi-level Oshodi transport interchange along Apapa-Oshodi expressway was initially awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria plc under Goodluck Jonathan regime six years ago. The estimated fund for the completion was n15m and the project was to run for 15months. Unfortunately the project stalled and the Lagos state government took over.
