The All Progressives Congress now includes the deputy governor candidate for Zamfara Labour Party (LP), three senatorial candidates, and seven candidates for the House of Representatives (APC).
Alhaji Sule Dansadau, the deputy governorship candidate, Yahaya Audi Mafara, the senatorial candidate for Zamfara West, Alhaji Sani Yusuf Danmasami, and Engineer Adamu Yakubu, the senatorial candidate for Zamfara North, all joined the APC.
14 out of the 19 LP candidates for the House of Assembly and 7 of the candidates for the House of Representatives both defected to the APC.
At a defection ceremony that was planned in the Talata-Mafara Local Government Area, they were welcomed by Abdulaziz Yari, the chairman of the Zamfara 2023 governorship campaign council.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, the state chairman of the APC, was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Hassan Marafa Damri. He expressed happiness over their decision to join the party, calling it a significant asset to the group.
Damri emphasized the need for all right-thinking Zamfarans to be passionate about the peace and stability of the state and to work together to advance it.
Yari expressed delight with their defection and claimed they made the right choice by giving up their political aspirations in favor of joining the APC, which is currently in power.
Regarding the APC’s prior hold on power after the defunct APP, ANPP, and now APC, he assured them that the party is for the people of Zamfara.
The deputy governorship candidate and the senatorial candidate for Zamfara Central, who spoke on behalf of other defectors, said in their declarative statements that they had decided to abandon their respective plans to back the APC due to the peace and stability that had come about as a result of the reconciliation between former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle.
They promised to mobilize all of their supporters throughout the election and cast every vote possible for APC candidates.
