The kidnappers of Mr. Safiyanu Isah-Andaha, the Chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, have released him. He was abducted on Monday.

In a statement provided to New Telegraph on Tuesday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nanse, verified the Chairman’s and the other three victims’ release.

Remember that on New Year’s Day at Ningo village, Akwanga LGA, three others, including the Local Government Chairman, were kidnapped by bandits?

The PPRO reports that the chairman and three other individuals were freed in Andaha village, Akwanga, on Tuesday at approximately 8:45 p.m.

He claimed that the search and rescue team from the unified security agencies applied consistent pressure, which led to the development.

He clarified, however, that there have been rumors that the Chairman was freed following payment of N10 million. The PPRO refuted this, stating that no ransom was paid.

He stated that as soon as Umar Nadada, the Commissioner of Police, received information about the event on Monday night, he sent out a team whose efforts, along with those of sister agencies, paid off as the victims were released unharmed.

Nansel stated that following medical care, the victims would be returned to their families.
