In a state dominated by the oil and gas economy, Edward Ozuruoke Bright chose a different path — and turned it into a thriving legacy.

The Industrial Chemistry student once believed that pursuing a technical course might have guaranteed him survival within the competitive oil and gas landscape of Rivers State. But rather than remain boxed in by conventional expectations, he challenged the system itself — insisting that SCHOOL SHOULD NOT BE A HOSTILE PLACE, but a space where creativity and individuality can flourish.

While still in school, Edward refused to wait for opportunity. He travelled to Aba, Abia State, where he began producing and selling bedsheets — an early sign of his entrepreneurial drive. Later, culinary school became more than a training ground; it became a refuge. He transformed personal mental struggles into SKILL, PASSION, AND PURPOSE through the art of food.

Determined to expand his horizon, Edward pooled his savings and took a bold step to Dubai, reinforcing his belief that WE ARE ALL EMBODIMENTS OF GREATNESS if we dare to explore our potential.

A proud graduate of Geophysics from the University of Port Harcourt, Edward broke new ground as the institution’s first graduate in the discipline — a symbolic beginning to a career defined by trailblazing.

His passion for gastronomy soon propelled him onto the international stage. In 2015, he completed foundational culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu, Cape Town, South Africa, under its summer extension programme. He further sharpened his expertise in 2017 at Terrou-Bi in Dakar, Senegal, while also pursuing private culinary development across Ghana, the United Arab Emirates, and Kenya. These experiences broadened his understanding of global cuisine, culture, and hospitality.

As CEO of CHEF EDWARD’S FOOD HOUSE, he built a brand that quickly gained recognition. In 2019, the restaurant earned a spot among the best in Port Harcourt, cementing his influence within the city’s hospitality industry. By December 2025, his contribution to the event industry in Port Harcourt and Nigeria at large earned him formal recognition — affirming his consistency, innovation, and impact.

Beyond the kitchen, Edward stands as a creative visionary and social advocate. A lover of God, food, poetry, pop culture, music, and animals, he actively champions environmental sustainability and human rights. As a proud male feminist, he promotes equity, inclusion, and social responsibility — using food not just as nourishment, but as a platform for meaningful change.

In a region where many measure success by proximity to oil wells, Edward Ozuruoke Bright has proven that passion, resilience, and vision can carve out a different kind of wealth — one rooted in creativity, courage, and culture.
