Chelsea sign Sarr on a free transfer

The 21-year-old defender moves to Stamford Bridge after leaving Nice this summer

Chelsea’s summer recruitment drive has continued with the signing of Malang Sarr on a free transfer.

The 21-year-old left-sided centre back moves to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal after leaving Ligue 1 side Nice at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Sarr will spend the 2020-21 season out on loan, Chelsea have confirmed – and, with 119 senior appearances for Nice already under his belt, he is unlikely to be short on offers.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia Told the club website: “The opportunity to sign Malang was one we could not miss. He is a tremendous prospect and we will be monitoring him closely during his loan period, hoping he will soon be back at Chelsea. We are very happy to welcome him to the club today.”
