Before the Kingdom, there was war. Chief of War is an epic new historical drama debuting August 1 on Apple TV+. The series chronicles the unification and colonization of Hawai‘i in the late 1700s, told for the first time through an Indigenous lens. A passion project from creators Jason Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, the show brings to life a pivotal moment in Pacific Island history.

Led by a powerful cast of Polynesian talent, including Momoa, Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, and Cliff Curtis, the story unfolds over nine episodes, culminating in a finale directed by Momoa himself.

Executive producers include industry veterans Doug Jung, Peter Chernin, and Jenno Topping, while acclaimed director Justin Chon helms the first two episodes. The score is composed by Hans Zimmer and James Everingham, bringing cinematic depth to the narrative.
