Osisi Ikenna Nicholas, a corps member, was found guilty of participating in online fraud and was sentenced by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to one month of community service.
Between November 21 and November 25, 2022, Osisi and 38 other defendants were found guilty on separate one-count charges by Justices Bayo Taiwo, Omolara Adeyemi, Ladoke Akintola, Mohammed Owolabi of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, and Justice Opeyemi Sobowale of the Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta.
A fine, one to six months of community work, and a year in jail are all possible punishments.
The defendants were mandated to pay back all of their victims’ property and forfeit it to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, a fire that started in the main building yesterday completely destroyed the Wema bank facility in Agodi, Ibadan.
No one was hurt during the event, which according to an eyewitness began about 7:30 a.m.

The witness claimed, “We saw smoke shooting out of the building and alerted the fire services right away to stop it from spreading to other places, especially the filling station next the bank.”
When The Guardian arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was still billowing into the air, and people from the bank’s personnel, customers, and tourists could be seen keeping a safe distance from the flames.
To avoid a breakdown in law and order, the Oyo State Police Command and the state Road Traffic Management Agency cordoned the area.
Yemi Akinyinka, the general manager of Oyo State Fire Services, who was on the site, stated that the inquiry into the fire’s origin was still underway.
