Prospective corps members will now be required to produce fitness certificates from recognized public health facilities at orientation camps around the nation, according to a statement from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The certificate of fitness will become a condition for registration at camps and will take effect in the 2022 Batch “C” Orientation Course, according to a statement from NYSC spokesperson Eddy Megwa on Tuesday, November 1.

According to Megwa, the plan will use the fitness exam to determine the health state of corpers and to weed out those who misrepresent their medical concerns. “In order to provide the program with reliable information on their health state and to guard them against exploitation by dishonest people

It is important to remember that the National Health Insurance Authority oversees the management of the NYSC Orientation Camp Clinics across the country under the direction of consultants from higher medical institutions.
