A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a lawsuit filed by the former Deputy Governor of Edo, Phillips Shaibu, who was previously impeached. Shaibu was trying to revert the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary governorship election in Edo State that took place.
Justice Omotosho, as reported by the Nation, declared that Shaibu’s case was considered premature because he skipped the party’s internal conflict resolution steps prior to initiating legal action. The judge underscored Shaibu’s responsibility, as a PDP member.
The judge concluded that there was sufficient evidence establishing Ighodalo as the legitimate victor of the primary election. In a bid to reconcile, the ousted Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu revealed intentions to mend ties with the ex-State Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Shaibu shared this in a PUNCH interview, emphasizing his unwillingness to endorse the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
