A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has voided the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025, dealing a fresh blow to the opposition party’s leadership tussle.
In its ruling, the court restrained members of the Tanimu Turaki–led National Working Committee (NWC) from presenting themselves as national officers of the PDP, declaring their claim to office unlawful.
The court further affirmed that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman, alongside Senator Samuel Anyanwu, remains the only legally recognised National Working Committee of the party. The recognition, the court held, stands pending the organisation of a valid and properly conducted National Convention.
The judgment marks the latest development in the prolonged internal crisis that has continued to unsettle the PDP, deepening divisions within the party and raising fresh questions about its leadership structure ahead of future political engagements.
