Shell Western Supply and Trading Limited has been ordered by a Federal High Court in Lagos to deposit $4.6 million that Shell holds for Amni International Petroleum Development Company Limited into the account of the court’s Deputy Chief Registrar.
The court ordered the Deputy Chief Registrar to transfer the $3,571,637.68 and N271,138,207.57 entered as judgment funds straight to Amni’s creditor, SpringRock Energy Limited, in their designated bank account within five days of receiving instructions from them.
This came after SpringRock filed petitions through a legal team led by Olumide Aju, SAN, and defendants’ legal counsel Olumide Sofowora, SAN, filed counterarguments.
In a ruling in litigation filed by SpringRock Energy Limited and SpringRock Energy Limited Mauritius as the first and second plaintiffs/applicants, Justice Akintayo Aluko, the trial judge, issued the directions.
Respondents/defendants include Shell, four banks, Amni and Amni International Petroleum Development Company 52 Limited, as well as five Mareva parties.
Three more reliefs were also granted to the applicants by the court.
The court ultimately decided on three applications, two of which were submitted by SpringRock and one by Amni.
Amni’s plea asking for the Interim Mareva Order to be dismissed was denied by the court.
