Al Ittihad defeated Al Nassr 3-1 in the Saudi Super Cup semifinal on Thursday, eliminating the team, headed by Cristiano Ronaldo, from the competition.
Ronaldo struggled to find the back of the net against Al Ittihad in just his second game since leaving Manchester United. The 37-year-old star lost a fantastic opportunity to tie the score after Romarinho gave Al Ittihad the lead.
Ronaldo had a few more scoring opportunities, but he was thwarted by the Al Ittihad defense.
Abderrazak Hamdallah’s strike gave Al Ittihad the advantage, which Anderson Talisca cut in half in the 67th minute. Adding the third three minutes into stoppage time was Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti.
On February 3, Al Nassr will travel to Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.
