As momentum builds toward the 2027 general elections, former federal lawmaker Farah Dagogo has called on Nigerians to approach the electoral process with a renewed sense of responsibility and critical thinking.

Dagogo, who represented Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, stressed the need for voters to elect leaders whose policies will improve living standards and drive national development.

He urged Nigerians to be deliberate in their choices by carefully scrutinising the promises, performance, and track records of candidates—particularly those seeking re-election. According to him, the quality of leadership that emerges from the polls will ultimately reflect how well citizens evaluate their options.

The former lawmaker also linked civic responsibility to the ongoing spiritual season, noting that the rare overlap of Ramadan and Lent provides a moment for deep reflection as the country prepares for another election cycle.

Describing the convergence as both symbolic and instructive, Dagogo said it offers Nigerians an opportunity to align their moral values with their civic duties.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Ibrahim Lawal, he extended goodwill to both Muslim and Christian faithful, commending their commitment to fasting, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal.

“I celebrate with Muslims and Christians on this rare convergence of Ramadan and Lent at the beginning of an election cycle. It underscores a profound spiritual dimension that should guide our national choices,” he said.

Dagogo further emphasised that beyond spiritual observances, Nigerians must prioritise competence, accountability, and integrity when choosing leaders, noting that the growth of democracy depends on informed and value-driven voting decisions.
