Dangote Refinery has directed Nigerians to report any MRS filling station across the country selling petrol above the approved ₦739 per litre price, as the company moved to enforce compliance with its pricing framework.

The refinery issued the directive in a statement on Sunday, reaffirming that its petrol must retail at ₦739 per litre, while the gantry price remains ₦699 per litre.

Dangote Refinery stressed that any deviation from the approved retail price undermines the purpose of the recent price adjustment and shortchanges consumers.

The company also appealed to other filling station operators nationwide to patronise its refined petroleum products at the ₦699 gantry rate, noting that wider participation would help extend the benefits of the price reduction to Nigerians and stabilise the downstream petroleum market.

“We also call on other petrol station operators to patronize our products so that the benefits of this price reduction can be passed on to Nigerians across all outlets, ensuring broad-based relief and a more stable downstream market,” the statement read.

The development follows an earlier announcement by the President of Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, who set the maximum retail price of the refinery’s petrol at ₦740 per litre.

Recent market checks showed that MRS and other filling stations in Abuja adjusted pump prices to between ₦739 and ₦912 per litre. However, fresh reports indicated that some MRS outlets were selling above the ₦739 per litre benchmark, prompting the refinery’s call for public vigilance and reporting.
