Tragedy struck on Wednesday at Four Corner Junction, Enugu State, when a trailer allegedly belonging to the Dangote Group crushed an entire family to death.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the victims, who were travelling in a vehicle, did not survive the impact. A viral video of the crash shows the car completely flattened under the weight of the truck.
The latest incident comes just days after Ruth, the younger sister of former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna, died from injuries sustained in another accident involving a Dangote Group truck.
Following Ruth’s death, Dangote management said it had arranged to fly her abroad for treatment, but she passed away before plans materialised.
The string of tragedies has fueled outrage, with activist VeryDarkMan intensifying his campaign against what he describes as the reckless conduct of Dangote truck drivers on Nigerian highways. He also alleged that the driver involved in Ruth’s accident lacked a valid licence.
As of Wednesday evening, neither the police nor the Dangote Group had released an official statement on the Enugu crash.
