The former child star, best known for voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and starring in The Ring, died in a Los Angeles hospital after complications linked to sepsis and meningitis.

Manager John Ryan Jr said Chase was admitted to hospital on Wednesday suffering from severe malnourishment. However, her condition worsened after doctors diagnosed meningitis and multiple bloodstream infections.

“She was the greatest,” Ryan said. “She loved cats and worked with cat rescue groups. She was never interested in the Hollywood lifestyle.”

He added that Chase preferred a quiet life away from fame. “She would rather eat at Bob’s Big Boy and spend time with her cats. She loved acting but was not into the celebrity scene.”

Born on 24 July 1990, Chase began acting at the age of four and secured her first major Hollywood role when she was seven. She gained international recognition as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and later appeared in the horror film The Ring.

In 2003, she won an Annie Award for her performance as Lilo and continued to voice the character in subsequent productions within the franchise.
