Davido advises upcoming artistes to put God first despite fame

Davido advises upcoming artistes not to abandon their faith after achieving success, saying the music industry is full of distractions that can pull people away from God.

Speaking in a recent interview with Kiss Xtra, the Afrobeats star, whose real name is Davido, said many successful entertainers, particularly Christians, have admitted they stopped attending church after becoming famous.

However, Davido advises upcoming artistes to remain grounded in their faith while pursuing success. He encouraged aspiring musicians to believe in themselves, develop their talents, and stay committed to improving their craft.

“I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I learned from YouTube and the people around me,” he said.

The singer also stressed that passion and discipline should go hand in hand with faith. According to him, artists should always remember God, especially after achieving fame, because success often brings temptations and distractions.

“Love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it because there are so many distractions that can make you forget He is the reason you are here,” Davido added.

His comments come as discussions continue over how fame influences the personal beliefs and lifestyles of entertainers. Nevertheless, Davido advises upcoming artistes to remain focused on their purpose and keep their faith at the centre of their journey.
