Nigerian Afrobeat sensation, David Adeleke (better known as Davido), has publicly criticized the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Umar Abba, in light of the ongoing political unrest in the state. The crisis revolves around a bitter conflict between Governor Ademola Adeleke, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly concerning the sacking of local government chairmen elected under the APC.
The dispute intensified when several of the ousted APC chairmen attempted to forcibly reenter their offices despite court orders removing them. Governor Adeleke recently expressed concerns over alleged plots by Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to stir chaos in the state. The governor also claimed that Oyetola was collaborating with law enforcement, including Commissioner Abba and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), to undermine the stability of Osun.
The conflict led to violent clashes at local government secretariats on February 17, as the dismissed chairmen, along with their supporters, tried to seize control of government offices, prompting fierce resistance from PDP members.
Reacting to these developments, Davido took to his social media platform, X, to call out Commissioner Abba, accusing him of disregarding the rule of law and inciting further unrest. His message, filled with strong and provocative language, underscores his discontent with the current state of affairs in Osun.
