Former Big Brother Naija housemate and comedian DeeOne has openly criticized former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, accusing him of lacking the financial commitment required to win the 2027 presidential election.

In a viral Instagram video released Saturday morning, DeeOne reacted to the emergence of the City Boy Movement — a political support structure backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The movement, reportedly initiated by Seyi Tinubu, has drawn attention in the South-East, where several individuals previously aligned with Obi are said to be serving as coordinators and directors.

Responding to the development, DeeOne warned that Obi cannot rely on sentiment or the popular “we no dey give shishi” mantra to secure victory in the next general election. He insisted that presidential politics demands substantial logistics, strategic spending and visible structure.

“You cannot win a presidential election with sympathy votes,” DeeOne declared. “It may have worked to some extent in the last election, but 2027 will be different. Presidential election no be cho cho cho — you must show workings.”

He further referenced the United States election, claiming that former U.S. President Donald Trump spent millions of dollars of personal funds during his campaign, arguing that political ambition requires heavy financial backing.

The comedian alleged that during the 2023 polls, Labour Party agents at polling units allegedly lacked basic welfare support, including food and water. According to him, some were reportedly assisted by members of rival political parties.

“People risk their lives to protect votes. They should at least get something to eat,” he said, urging Obi either to invest personal resources into his ambition or mobilize supporters to donate transparently toward campaign logistics.

DeeOne cautioned Obi’s loyalists against dismissing the City Boy Movement, describing the group’s organization as serious and strategic. He stressed that constructive criticism does not equate to political betrayal but could strengthen Obi’s future prospects.

“Tell him the truth if you want him to succeed,” DeeOne added. “Looking down on structured political movements will be a costly mistake.”

The remarks have since sparked heated debate online, reigniting conversations about campaign financing, grassroots mobilization, and the evolving dynamics ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential race.
