LAGOS – In a dramatic show of resilience, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, arrived at the Assembly Complex this morning to a thunderous welcome from supporters, despite a dawn raid by DSS operatives and police, who sealed off her office and that of the Deputy Speaker.
Sources say Meranda is under intense pressure to step down, clearing the way for the return of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who held the position for a decade before being ousted over allegations of abuse of office and financial misconduct.
However, a majority of lawmakers stand firmly behind Meranda, rejecting any attempt to force her out. The power struggle escalated after Obasa filed a lawsuit, challenging his removal and demanding immediate reinstatement.
With tensions running high and the Assembly divided, all eyes are now on how this high-stakes political battle unfolds. Will Meranda stand her ground, or will Obasa claw his way back to power?
