Prominent activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has confirmed that Nigerian singer and social media personality Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, is currently in police custody in Abuja. Adeyanju revealed that Speed Darlington was arrested following a petition filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy.

According to Adeyanju, Speed Darlington was apprehended in Lagos last Friday and subsequently transferred to Abuja, where he has remained detained. However, specific details regarding the contents of the petition have not been disclosed.

In a post on his X handle, Adeyanju stated, “We just spent the last 30 minutes with Speed Darlington. He narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around, and eventually brought to Abuja, where he has been in detention since then. The petition against him was written by Burna Boy; we can confirm this.”

It is worth noting that in a recent video, Speed Darlington had questioned the legitimacy of Burna Boy’s Grammy award, drawing a controversial connection between the A-list artist and the embattled music mogul Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.

On Tuesday morning, Burna Boy posted on his X handle, “Who’s missing?” However, as of now, the Nigerian Police Force has not released any official information regarding Speed Darlington’s arrest.
