In a decisive move to ensure environmental sustainability in the Asaba Capital Territory, the Mobile Court of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has convicted 16 individuals and establishments for violating environmental sanitation laws.
The enforcement action was led by the Head of Environment at DSCTDA, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who prosecuted offenders found breaching environmental regulations within the capital territory.
During the court session, four defendants were discharged after reviewing their cases, while bench warrants were issued for 12 offenders who failed to appear in court. One notable case involved Chuzz4 Apartment and Suites, accused of discharging wastewater into a public drainage system, an act deemed a threat to public health and a violation of environmental regulations.
Commenting on the development, DSCTDA Director-General Mr. Patrick Ukah reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy capital territory. He warned that individuals and organizations who violate environmental laws, including improper disposal of wastewater and other waste materials, will continue to face strict prosecution.
Ukah further urged residents, business owners, and property managers to comply with environmental laws, stressing that DSCTDA will sustain its enforcement drive to ensure that Asaba remains orderly and environmentally sustainable.
