DELTA PDP CHIEF KILLED IN CAR CRASH

Chief Joe Unuame of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli, Delta State, and his driver were killed in an accident between his SUV and a tanker yesterday.

He was driving to Patani from Ijaw town on the East-West road to attend a large PDP rally. Umuame’s car apparently collided with a tanker near Umeh junction on the East-West road’s Ughelli/Patani axis.

His driver died on the spot, while Unuame perished in a hospital after being taken there.

The news of Umuame’s death sparked a riot at the Patani demonstration. Unuame was born in the Akpere-Olomu community of Delta State’s Ughelli South Council.
