The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a three-month ultimatum to owners of uncompleted buildings and undeveloped plots in the Federal Capital City (FCC) to either develop their properties or face potential loss of ownership. This action aims to address the growing issue of shanties and squatters taking residence in these incomplete structures and vacant lands.
In a statement dated October 21, 2024, signed by Chief Felix Obuah, the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), the FCTA expressed concern over the proliferation of unauthorized settlements, which have become hideouts for individuals engaged in questionable activities, posing significant security risks to residents.
The FCTA’s directive emphasizes the need for property owners to take immediate action, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to maintaining safety and order within the city.
