Arsenal manager, Unai Emery is hopeful that the potential arrive of Denis Suarez from Barcelona will help solve the club’s shortage of wingers.
There have been several reports on a loan deal involving the Spaniard, which will see the Gunners hold a non-compulsory purchase option at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has only played 17 minutes of La Liga action this season and is mainly deployed in the Copa del Rey.
“We need wingers and Suárez, who I know, has this quality,” Emery told reporters, in quotes cited by Diario AS and football Espana.
“The physical side of the English game? I do not know how he will cope. It is a challenge for him, and also it will be a challenge for him to help us.”
The midfielder, formerly of Sevilla – where he played under Emery – and Villarreal, joined Barca from Manchester City in 2013 and has just 18 months left of his contract at the Camp Nou.
There are suggestions that such a move will see Denis extend his contract by a further year until June 2021, to protect Barca against a financial loss.
Nothing as regards that loan move has been official yet. But the January transfer window will end on Thursday midnight.
