- Unshaken Belief: Actor embraces faith in the spotlight.
Denzel Washington, the iconic 69-year-old actor, has officially entered the clergy, receiving his minister’s license in the Church of God in Christ. Washington was baptized by Archbishop Christopher Bryant at Kelly Temple in New York City on Saturday.
Reflecting on the milestone, Washington said, “It took a while, but I’m finally here. If God can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you.” The actor’s statement, shared by Bryant on Facebook alongside photos of the ceremony, highlighted his spiritual journey.
The “Training Day” star has often spoken about his faith, recently admitting that discussing religion in Hollywood is a challenge. In an article for Esquire, he shared, “I don’t care what anyone thinks. Talking about faith isn’t fashionable in this industry, but I’m unafraid.”
Known for legendary roles in movies like Malcolm X and The Book of Eli, Washington continues to inspire both on and off the screen.
