Babatunji Wusu –
After collecting N1 million in ransom, gunmen in Kogi State cruelly killed Pastor David Musa, a priest affiliated with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).
He was reportedly slain on Tuesday night after the gunmen demanded N1 million in ransom from his family. On Wednesday morning, the church’s social media network broke the news of his murder.
“I write with a heavy heart, but in total submission to the will of God, to inform you that the abductors of our brother, Pastor Musa David, killed him last night after collecting a ransom of one million naira.” In this difficult time, may our prayers be with the family, the Church, and the DCC.”
Pastor David Musa’s kidnapping was first reported on Saturday, November 11, coinciding with the Kogi State governorship election. He was allegedly kidnapped in the Obajana area.
The late Pastor, who was formerly in charge of ECWA Bishara in Ajaokuta, died in a terrible manner, heightening concern among his congregation and the general people of the state.
Notably, insecurity has increased along the Lokoja/Obajana/Kabba Road. Gunmen routinely operate along this route, committing abductions and contributing to an increasing death toll.
In September, an army Major and 26 other people were forcibly dragged into the jungle near Kabba town. While some were released after a week in detention, the fate of others remained unknown.
