Babatunji Wusu –

Oladosu Ariyo, a lawyer and the father of Folashade, a 13-year-old girl who was abducted on Monday, has verified his daughter’s passing.
Three of the eleven residents of the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji neighborhood of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been murdered by kidnappers.

In Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State, the kidnappers had disposed of the victims’ bodies near a former military roadblock behind Idah Junction on the Bwari-Jere SCC Road.

A 500-level student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, and a secondary school student named Folorunsho Ariyo, who was identified as the daughter of the Chief Legal Officer of the National Universities Commission (NUC), were among the corpses that have been identified thus far.

Nabeeha was taken into custody on January 9 together with her father and five of her female siblings, while Ariyo and her mother and three siblings were abducted two Sundays ago.

In a tweet on Monday night, X user @kcuzoka cited Ariyo as pleading with his peers in a WhatsApp group for lawyers and bemoaning the government’s inability to put an end to the nation’s uneasiness.

According to reports, Ariyo’s 13-year-old daughter was killed even though she managed to raise N7 million of the N60 million that had been sought previously but the kidnappers would not release her.

According to reports, he described how the kidnappers made threats against his wife and his three minor children who were still being held captive.

As a result, the grieving father requested that the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) step in to help save the rest of his family.

The post reads in part: “Dear seniors and colleagues, most respectfully, I’m Oladosu Folorunso Ariyo, a lawyer working in Abuja. On Sunday evening, the 7th of January 2024, around 7:30 pm, a band of kidnappers dressed in full military camo invaded my home located at Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse, Abuja.

“They kidnapped my wife (who is also a lawyer) and our four children. The kidnappers called and demanded a 60 million ransom, out of which, through generous donations from friends and family, I was able to raise N7m, which they have refused to collect.

“As of today, they’ve killed my first born – Michelle Ariyo (13) and dumped her corpse on Kaduna Road, while threatening to kill my three remaining children (all minors) and wife who are still in captivity. Please, and please, sir, I urgently need the intervention of the NBA. When will these kidnappings end? When will the government pretend to be serious about this insecurity in our country? God help us all.”
