Regardless of their partnership, the NDLEA has pledged to detain and prosecute the contentious performer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, if he is found in possession of drugs.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s director of media and advocacy, revealed this in a conversation with Punch Newspaper. He explained that because his young fans, called as “Marlians,” saw him as a role model, the organization specifically hired Naira Marley to promote drug misuse awareness.
This comes after Nigerians criticized the appointment of controversial singer-songwriter Azeez Adeshina Fashola as an NDLEA ambassador to fight against drug abuse in the nation on social media.
However, Babafemi defended the agency’s decision to use Naira Marley as its spokesperson in its fight against drg abuse in the nation, claiming that this decision does not prevent the agency from detaining and prosecuting Marley if he is found in possession of drgs.
