The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has advised residents of Lagos State who were protesting the purported sale of the state’s liaison office by the state’s most recent governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, to remain quiet while assembly members looked into the situation.
To undertake a thorough investigation into the situation, the assembly formed a 9-person ad hoc committee under the direction of Hon. Larry Ven Bawa.
The chairman of the team led other honorable members to the building at plot 1234 Bishop Oluwole, Victoria Island, on Thursday to evaluate the complete edifice before the team arrived in Lagos.
“We are here as directed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi based on our resolutions during the House proceedings to investigate the alleged sales of state government properties in Lagos and other states by the administration of former governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura,” Bawa said after inspecting the two-story building.Observe the building, learn about the circumstances of our people, particularly those who were arrested, and look into whether the building was sold, who bought it, how the transaction was carried out, and whether or not the proceeds were deposited into the state government coffers.
