Babatunji Wusu –
An investigation into the forgery of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s signature on official documents has been launched by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The fabrication of a government document’s signature is confirmed by a forensic report from the Association of Forensic Professionals of Nigeria.
After Razaq Obe, the State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, reported the forgery to the Deputy Governor, the matter became public.
Obe attested to the fabrication of Akeredolu’s signature on a ministry-related official document.
Since taking his medical vacation, Governor Akeredolu has not been in Ondo State; instead, he has been running the state from his home in Ibadan.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, the DSS invited Obe for questioning after the forensic report was made public and it was discovered that Akeredolu’s signature was being forged on official documents, according to SaharaReporters.
The platform was informed by sources that Obe arrived at the DSS office in Alagbaka, Akure, at approximately 3:00 PM.
He then stated to reporters that he received good treatment during the entire exchange.
“The secret police wondered how they did not get an inkling of the forgery before it broke to the public,” one of the sources claimed during the roughly two-hour-long conversation.
The Commissioner has emerged as “a person of interest” in the case, according to the secret police, who stated they had to invite him.
“When asked why he didn’t notify the agency right away, he said that he had to notify the Deputy Governor first, since they were the highest authority at the time.
As a result, “the security agents made an appeal to him to assist them in their investigation.”
