  • Singer Badmus Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was arraigned in Ilorin following a petition by Fuji musician Saheed Osupa.

  • Charges include criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking.

  • Portable was granted bail of ₦1 million with two sureties, one of whom must be a PMAN chairman.

  • The case has been adjourned to April 30, 2025.

The Kwara State Police Command on Monday arraigned controversial Nigerian singer Portable before an Upper Area Court in Ilorin, following his arrest in Abeokuta, Ogun State. His arrest stemmed from a petition filed by Fuji music veteran Saheed Osupa Akorede, who accused him of various offenses.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), Osupa alleged that Portable defamed him through livestream videos, incited public unrest, and falsely claimed to have removed his music from platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, damaging his reputation and potential income.

During the arraignment, Police prosecutor Abubakar Issa requested that the court remand Portable pending the completion of the investigation. However, Portable’s counsel, Barrister Adebayo Issac, opposed the request, arguing that the musician had already been granted administrative bail and posed no flight risk due to his public profile and traceable residence.

Presiding Judge Hon. Sunday Adeniyi ruled in favor of bail, setting the amount at ₦1 million with two sureties—one of whom must be a chairman of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). The court adjourned the case to April 30, 2025, for further hearing.
