Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a five-count charge against former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, alleging terrorism financing and illegal possession of firearms. According to the charge, Malami is accused of knowingly abetting terrorism financing by allegedly refusing to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers whose case files were reportedly forwarded to his office during his tenure as Attorney-General.

The DSS also alleges that Malami and his son engaged in conduct preparatory to acts of terrorism, citing the alleged possession of a firearm without a licence. Items listed in the charge include a Sturm Magnum 17-0101 firearm, 16 live Redstar AAA 5.20 cartridges, and 27 expended cartridges.

The charges have been filed, and the case is expected to proceed through the courts. As with all criminal matters, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
