Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has asked Christians to follow the example of the Biblical Christ by putting faith in Nigerian authorities, which he claims will result in a stronger Nigeria.
He said this while celebrating the 2023 Easter holiday with the Christian faithful on Friday.
Bello congratulated the Christian faithful on the successful conclusion of the lent season, noting that it was a much-needed period of self-denial to pray for the peace of the nation and the wisdom of the leaders. He made his remarks in a special message delivered on Friday through a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammad.
“On the joyous occasion of the Easter celebrations in 2023, I want to celebrate with all of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world. Since it symbolizes the fulfillment of prophecies and the revelation of God’s redemptive plan for Christ’s disciples, Easter is recognized by Christians as a joyful occasion.
Bello said Easter also marks the celebration of the victory over death and the hope for salvation, while urged Nigerians to hold onto their optimism about the country’s growth.
“I urge all citizens to keep trust in our leaders with prayers for a bigger Nigeria,” he said. “Easter also means celebrating the victory over death and the prospect of salvation since it immortalizes the Resurrection of Jesus.”
The governor said, “At this time of immense challenges, there must be a revival of hope for our country, just as the death and resurrection of Christ signified hope for mankind.”
In order for security, unity, and peace to prevail in the interest of the country as a whole, he urged Christians to consider important issues affecting the country and to keep seeking the face of God Almighty.
Governor Bello insisted that all citizens who actively participated in the process of electing leaders into the various offices must also commit themselves to prayer for the orderly transition of government, growth, and prosperity of the country. He noted that the 2023 general elections, which will usher in new breeds of leaders across the country by May 29, represent a watershed for Nigeria.
He noted that security agents and other cooperating agencies are working together round-the-clock to checkmate criminality and secure the lives and possessions of citizens, while assuring the Christian faithful in Kogi state of the state’s commitment to a joyful celebration free of any hiccups.
All Christians who observe the season are urged by Governor Bello to find comfort and strength in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice.
