Babatunji Wusu –

Tony Aziegbemi, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has not received an appointment from the Edo State government, which is led by Godwin Obaseki.

Osarodion Ogie, the secretary to the Edo State government, dissociated the current administration from a forged appointment letter allegedly delivered to the PDP State Chairman in a statement on Saturday night.

According to reports, Governor Obaseki named the State PDP Chairman as his Special Political Adviser (Esan North East/Esan South East).

According to Ogie, the letter going around was phony and didn’t come from the state administration.

The statement says as follows: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, has allegedly received an appointment letter designating him as a *Special Adviser Political (Esan North East/Esan South East).* The attention of the Edo State Government has been drawn to this purported appointment letter.”

“We vehemently declare that the letter is fraudulent, made up, and the work of pranksters hoping to incite a catastrophe.

“We urge the public to ignore the letter in its entirety as it did not originate from the State administration.

“We oppose the criminal attempt by opponents to create confusion in public areas. This definitely qualifies as forgery, which is illegal under current legislation.

“The forged document has been sent to the Nigerian Police Force for a thorough investigation, and the offenders will face the full force of the law when they are discovered.”
