Former Chief of staff in Edo state, Hon.Patrick Obahiagbon has lost his senatorial bid to PDP’s Mathew Uroghide in EDO south federal constituency in last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. Hon. Obahiagbon EDO state almost evenly shared the National Assembly positions among the two contending parties; the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party in last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. In Edo South, Mathew Uroghide of the PDP scored 135,588 votes to defeat Patrick Obahiagbon of APC who scored 121,957 votes. For Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde federal constituency, Patrick Aisoweren of the APC scored 27,526 to defeat Uwa Osunbor of PDP who scored 23,460 votes. The APC won five of the nine seats for the House of Representatives while the PDP won four and for the Senate, PDP won two out of the three seats while APC won one. In Edo North Senatorial District, Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Francis Alimikhena of the APC defeated Abubakar Momoh of the PDP scoring 117,783 as against Abubakar’s 80,752. For Etsako Federal Constituency, Johnson Oghuma of the APC scored 57,75 to defeat Blessing Agbomere who scored 36,904. In Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Peter Akpatason scored 27,097 to defeat Oladele Bankole-Balogun of the PDP who scored 16,053. In Owan Federal Constituency, Professor Julius Ihonvbere of the APC scored 33,199 to defeat Johnson Abolagba who scored 25,722.: In Edo central, Clifford Ordia of the PDP polled 56,048 to defeat John Inegbedion of the APC who scored 49,158. Similarly, Sergius Ogun, also of the PDP was announced winner of Esan North East / Esan South East Federal constituency seat scoring 25,581 to beat his APC counterpart, Joseph Ikpea who scored 18,687 while Joe Edionwele of the PDP scored 30,848 to defeat Deacon Patrick Idiake of the APC who scored 29,844 to represent Esan South East and Esan Nortyh East federal constituency In Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency, candidate of the PDP Jude Ise-Idehen has polled 53,618 to defeat incumbent Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma of the APC who got 44,323. Agbonnayima had earlier protested the results saying the results of some wards were not collated at the prescribed collation centre. He said the INEC officials were taken to an unknown destination where the results were rigged. In Ovia Federal Constituency, candidate of the APC Dennis Idahosa polled 28,509 to defeat the incumbent Ms Omosede Igbinedion, daughter of the Esama of Benin Chief Gabriel Igbinedion who scored 23, 345 votes. The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Victor Igbinedion of the University of Benin, announced the final result at Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West Local Government Area. In Oredo Federal Constituency, Ogbeide Ihama of the PDP scored 32,895 to defeat Iyoha Osaigbovo who scored 23,352 votes. The result was announced by Prof Elizabeth Ebochuku, the Returning Officer for House of Representatives, Oredo Federal Constituency, on Sunday at Urhokpota Hall, Benin, the Edo capital.
