The EFCC has apprehended six top officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly committing a ₦6 billion scam.
According to the PUNCH, the officers were detained at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, and interrogated.
The specifics of the allegations are unknown; however, sources close to the situation claim that the arrest was ordered by the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, who collaborated with the EFCC in response to a formal request from the commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
A well-placed EFCC source, who preferred anonymity, revealed that “six senior NSCDC officers are currently in our custody.” They are being questioned for alleged fraudulent operations totaling over N6 billion.”
Another source corroborated the operation and defined the scope of the inquiry, saying, “The EFCC did not arrest the NSCDC CG, and he is not under investigation. The investigation is solely centered on the six officers who are suspected of severe financial malfeasance.
The Commandant General swiftly agreed with the EFCC’s request to turn over the involved personnel for a thorough investigation.
Attempts to contact Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, were futile since he did not return calls or text messages.
When asked for response, NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi expressed a lack of awareness of the matter.
“I’m not aware of this,” Afolabi replied briefly.
