In celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Barr. Chiedu Ebie, has extended goodwill to Muslim communities in the Ika area of Delta State with the donation of essential food items.
According to a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Jerome Mario-Utomi, the donation was part of Barr. Ebie’s commitment to promoting unity, inclusion, and shared celebration during religious festivities.
The donated items included bags of rice, vegetable oil, and live rams, distributed to both Yoruba and Hausa Muslim communities in the region. The distribution was conducted by Hon. Hilary Fada Ibude, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ika South, alongside Hon. Evelyn Efeh, Personal Assistant to the NDDC Chairman.
The event was marked by joyous celebration and expressions of gratitude from the beneficiaries. Speaking on behalf of the Hausa community, Sarki Hausawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ghali, described Barr. Ebie as “an exceptional politician and technocrat” whose leadership reflects care and inclusiveness.
Alhaji Ghali also praised Hon. Ibude for his consistent support, recalling his previous donation of a borehole and generator to the Utomi Junction Mosque during his time as Ika South Local Government Chairman.
Hon. Evelyn Efeh, in her remarks, stated that the donation aligns with Barr. Ebie’s longstanding tradition of engaging with the Muslim community during festive periods. She emphasized his belief in peace, harmony, and inclusive development.
“This gesture is a testament to Barr. Ebie’s vision of a united and progressive society,” she said, urging the Muslim faithful to continue promoting peaceful coexistence and communal harmony.
The event highlighted the growing importance of interfaith collaboration in national development, with community leaders commending political figures who prioritize the welfare of all citizens, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
As Muslims across the country observe Eid-el-Kabir, the NDDC’s outreach in Ika South stands as a powerful reminder that true leadership is rooted in compassion, unity, and service to all.
