President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the nation is on the path to renewed prosperity, declaring that the most challenging phase of his administration’s economic reforms is over.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to the nation on Thursday, the President reaffirmed his government’s dedication to making decisions in the best interest of the people, urging citizens to remain patient and resilient.
“Our administration will continue acting in the nation’s best interest, ensuring that the gains we are recording translate into improving people’s lives,” Tinubu said.
While acknowledging the economic hardship many Nigerians have endured in recent months, Tinubu emphasized that the foundations for long-term recovery have been laid.
“There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all. I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity that we promised two years ago,” he added.
The President noted that key economic indicators were beginning to show signs of improvement and assured the populace that the benefits of reforms would soon become more visible.
“We may not yet be where we aspire to be, but I urge all Nigerians not to lose hope. Let us hold on to our faith and persevere. Our reforms are gaining traction,” he stated.
Reflecting on the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu described the Islamic festival as a time for deep reflection, sacrifice, and compassion. He urged Muslims to follow the examples of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by embodying selflessness and devotion.
“Eid-el-Kabir represents the high point of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, a period filled with opportunities for acts of worship and good deeds. To truly honour Eid, we must embody these virtues,” he said.
Beyond religious observance, the President appealed for national unity, kindness, and generosity, urging Nigerians to extend compassion to others regardless of faith or background.
“Eid-el-Kabir also reminds us of our responsibilities beyond faith: to show resilience, tolerance, compassion, and dedication to the progress of our beloved country,” Tinubu said.
He also extended his condolences to victims of recent flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, which led to the loss of lives and displacement of many. Tinubu called for prayers and collective support for the affected community.
“Let us pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and fortitude for their relations. Let us join hands with the government to bring succour to the people of Mokwa,” he appealed.
The President further called on citizens to pray for Nigeria’s armed forces and security personnel who continue to sacrifice for the nation’s peace and security.
“Let us continue our prayers for our front-line officers… and for our leaders at all levels and our country,” Tinubu said, expressing hope that the blessings of the season would extend across the nation.
